Fork and spoon candle holder mounted on a wooden block

Reclaimed Cutlery & Shou Sugi Ban Wooden Candle Holder
Handcrafted in Rural Suffolk
This unique candle holder has been thoughtfully made from materials that have been given a new life, blending traditional craftsmanship with sustainable design.
The base is a solid wooden block (made from an old table leg) treated using the ancient Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban — charring the surface to naturally enhance its durability, resistance to moisture, insects, and decay, while creating a beautiful deep, rich black finish with subtle grain patterns still visible. No harsh chemicals are used; the protection comes entirely from the controlled burning process.
Raised from this distinctive base are a repurposed metal fork and spoon, carefully selected, cleaned, and shaped to form secure holders for your candles. Each piece of cutlery carries its own history, adding character and a charming, rustic feel that no mass-produced item can match.
Every item is hand-built by me in my small workshop here in Suffolk, so slight variations in wood grain, charring pattern, and cutlery details make each candle holder one of a kind.
